Warm rooms dry pots at different speeds. A fern beside an open window and a snake plant two metres back should not share a watering day just because they share a shelf.
Start with the pot
Lift it, feel the compost and look at the newest leaf. A light pot with a dry top layer may be ready. A cool, heavy pot should wait, even after a hot week.
Water slowly until a little runs from the drainage holes, let it finish dripping, then return the nursery pot to its outer pot. Empty any water left in the saucer after ten minutes.
